NEW PARENT BROCHURES – Available to parents when a baby is diagnosed with Down syndrome pre-natally or at birth. Contains useful information for the first days and weeks after you learn your baby has Down syndrome.
NEW PARENT PACKETS – Available to parents when a baby is diagnosed with Down syndrome. Includes current books, pamphlets, and membership information.
DOWN SYNDROME AWARENESS PROJECT – Members of DSSRI have been trained to teach this program at schools. This interactive project, with the students, can be tailor made for individual needs of students and schools.
LIBRARY – DSSRI has an up-to-date and extensive library on issues relating to Down syndrome. Books, videotapes, pamphlets, newsletters, etc. are available on the medical, educational, developmental, and psychological aspects of Down syndrome.
GENERAL MEMBER MEETINGS – Meetings are held for our members and the general public to discuss topics which are of particular interest to individuals with Down syndrome and their families.
NEWSLETTER – DSSRl publishes newsletters during the year.
SOCIAL AND FUND RAISING EVENTS – DSSRl’s annual fundraising event, holiday party, new parent functions, and Buddy Walk are held annually.
BUDDY WALK – DSSRl’s Buddy Walk is held in the fall in conjunction with Down Syndrome Awareness Month. We need volunteers and walkers. If you’d like to be involved, e-mail us for more information.
AFFILIATIONS – The DSSRI is affiliated with the National Down Syndrome Congress (NDSC) & the National Down Syndrome Society (NDSS) .
